POEM by Matt: Treat me with mourning

Talk to me as if I died yesterday
Trust me as if you remembered only the fondest of memories
Hold me like you'd never see me again
No I'm not talking to my significant other
I'm talking to all my friends
For friends pass on everyday, one by one
And only at those moments do I love them the most
So text me as if that was the last message you could send me
Ask me out as if it were the last time
Cherish me as if I have had the biggest heart, as the good die young
For tomorrow may be my last day...

How Can I Help Save Endangered Polar Bears?

Center for Biological Diversity

Dear Friends,
polar bearsPolar bears are in big trouble from accelerating Arctic warming and a vanishing sea-ice habitat. This year's skyrocketing fur prices and trophy hunting are also taking a devastating toll. Polar bear sport-hunting and the trophy trade are prohibited in the United States, but the international trade in polar bear parts is alive and well.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service is now deciding whether it will move to protect polar bears under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species. At the last round of CITES negotiations, the Service led the charge to ban all commercial trade in polar bear parts -- a move Canada blocked. The agency is now "undecided" on its position for the upcoming CITES meeting.

Canada still kills around 500 bears annually and leads the world in exporting rugs and hunting trophies. As polar bear numbers plummet under pressure from climate change, the Canadian territory of Nunavut quadrupled its hunting quota this season.
Tell the Service to take a stand against this excessive killing, stop the international trade in polar bear parts and lead the world in the bears' protection.

URGENT! Protect Our Environment! Stop New bill, H.R. 872!

Center for Biological Diversity

Dear Carrie ,
Chiricahua leopard frog
A new bill, H.R. 872, would allow unregulated pesticide applications and has already passed in the right-wing-dominated House of Representatives. Today their counterparts in the Senate are making a last-minute attempt to attach this poisonous legislation to the farm bill, hoping it will slip through unnoticed.

You can help turn back this toxic tide.

Many pesticides are linked to higher cancer rates and other serious health risks in people. Fish and amphibian populations have been devastated by these toxins, which can be the last straw for endangered species already in crisis.

Please take five minutes to call your senators and tell them to protect our waterways and wildlife from unregulated pesticide pollution.

Your personal phone call today will make a big impact. We've provided some talking points for your call. Click here to find the number to your senators, and, after you've called, let us know you were able to get through by clicking here.

Please, take a few minutes today to speak out for clean water and a healthy environment.

Sample Call:

Hello, my name is _________, and I'm from [City].

I'm calling to ask Senator ______________ to defend the Clean Water Act and its protections for our waterways from any bill that would limit or bypass it, like H.R. 872. I support the EPA's safeguards against pesticides through the "pesticide general permit" process. This protects our environment and public health fairly and effectively.

I strongly urge Senator _______________ to reject any measure that weakens the Clean Water Act. H.R. 872, and any companion bill in the Senate, is a hazard to all life in the United States. This controversial legislation should not be added to the unrelated farm bill.

[Please feel free to let the senator know how you are personally affected by pesticides in our waters.]

Please take action immediately; restricted to U.S. residents only.

I just want revenge... I mean consolation
Maybe we'll laugh about this in the future??? -.-

POEM by Matt: Oasis

Oasis

o·a·sis/ōˈāsis/ Noun:

1. A fertile spot in a desert where water is found.
2. A pleasant or peaceful area or period in the midst of a difficult, troubled, or hectic place or situation.

Guys, I just won the lottery but kept it a secret
I didn't want anyone congratulating me
Secretly hoping to get a donation LOL
But for some, now reason I want to tell the whole world!
And Facebook is the perfect place to do it
I won more than enough to splurge for the rest of my life
And just thinking about what I could do....
OH GOODNESS! BUTTERFLIES!!!! :D
I'm thinking about a house on the beach
Pleasant Asian neighbors (I love Chinese food)
2-3 Kids, 2-3 of them are going to have dreads too hahaha!
And most importantly a hammock on the porch facing the water
Selfishly, I'm not going to give it away
Neither will I spend it
I'm going to hold it dear to me for as long as I can
For you are my Oasis
I was born with two hearts, one on each side
And the second one just started beating when I won you
I will keep you safe, no one else will take you away
If I have the opportunity
And maybe over time, my love will grow for you with interest $$$
