POEM: Music to my ears

With grace in movement are such sweet melodies,
Each fingertip that speaks to me through your gentle touch,
To have such passion and lovely talent, one could only wish,
Spreading ease and comfort in your inspired gift,
With each caress flows great emotion,
For each feeling and occasion this sound is my potion,
Delicately tuned in harmony from within your souls speaks,
Upon hollowed wood and cold steel strings,
The language of your hands that bring sweet music to my ears,
Each note that fills my heart with love brings to my eyes tears,
As you played I dreamed and reminisced,
Like under hypnosis by beauty and wave pouring from each fingertip,
As deep as love this you confess,
Such angelic expressions in chords of loveliness.

CHARITY: Happy Hearts Fund

I remember the devastation after Hurricane Andrew in S. FL in 1992. I was 10 yrs old with a single mom and little brother. Our lives were turned upside down. As a child I will never forget the help and love we received from outsiders, people who cared enough to lend a helping hand and contributed to help rebuild our lives. The proverbial light at the end of the tunnel. Happy Hearts Fund focuses on helping to get children back to school, into a safe haven classroom setting where children can focus on eduction and consoling post disaster. A distraction from disaster, a positive environment to retreat to while efforts are made to rebuild homes and the lives of families affected by natural disasters. As a child I remember going to school after Hurricane Andrew. Children received much needed support and consoling through school while focusing on continuing eduction post disaster. Happy Hearts Fund helps make that possible for children in area's affected by natural disasters where schools are in need of rebuilding and children in need of support and eduction. A truly admirable charity.

Happy Hearts Fund: Mission

Happy Hearts Fund is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving children's lives through educational and sustainable programs in natural disaster areas.

Happy Hearts Fund: Vision

The Happy Hearts Fund vision is to rebuild children's lives after natural disasters.

Happy Hearts Fund: History

Happy Hearts Fund was founded by Petra Nemcova in 2005 to restore hope and opportunities to children affected by the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami; it received its 501(c)(3) status in 2006 with the vision of rebuilding children lives affected by natural disasters. Happy Hearts Fund was structured so all administrative costs would be underwritten, thereby ensuring 100 percent of all donations received would be directed to children's programming. Nemcova was in Thailand when the Indian Ocean Tsunami struck on December 26, 2004. After recovering from her injuries, she returned to Thailand to see how to be of the best help. There she witnessed families without homes, children without parents, and entire communities swept away. She was most affected by the children who were not getting any help five months after the disaster. It was the first time she experienced the gap period which occurs after first response and before governments step in after a natural disaster. For this reason Happy Hearts Fund concentrates its mission in the gap period by building "Happy Self Sustaining Schools." Over time, Happy Hearts Fund has broadened its geographic reach. It currently supports projects and children in eight countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Mexico, Peru, Sri Lanka, Haiti, India and Hurricane Katrina-affected areas of the United States.

MUSIC: For the MATI fans!

Matisyahu BEAT BOX SECOND TO NONE!

Mati and guitarist Adam (unplugged acoustic) rocked the house at the Knight Concert Hall at The Adrienne Arsht Center, Miami, FL. Mati's amazingly powerful vocals filled the concert hall. The show was incredible and Mati's beat boxing skills unlike anything ever seen before. Mati and Adam were quite the duo. Adam tore it up on the acoustic, incredible! and Mati is truly ordained, singing songs of freedom and spirituality. Mati sang in Hebrew and English... He sang some new tunes and some favorites like One Day and King Without A Crown. Mati even stopped for a brief Q&A with the audience. The audience yelled out their questions and comments, mostly just yelling out songs they want to hear "Play YOUTH!!!!!!!!!"Play SEA TO SEA!!!!!!" One fan asked Mati "How do you brush your hair", Mati replied "I don't really brush it, I twist it like this (twisting his Rabbi like dread) when I get out of the shower", another asked "Why are all your songs religious", Mati gave a long reply, but in short, visiting Israel changed his prospective about Judaism, different from the American perspective. It gave a greater appreciation and sense of spiritual enlightenment. Mati said if you've ever been to Israel you'd understand, it's such a small region of condensed Judaism, it's an overwhelmingly powerful feeling!! Whether Jewish or not Mati's music and funky beat box skills are sure to blow your mind. The show was mesmerizing! True fans you must see Matisyahu live! Future concert info will be posted here on Writer's CORNERSTONE, stay in the loop.
